Frilled Vase by Ned Heywood ~ Studio Pottery Chepstow, Pink and Natural 1985
Ned Heywood established his workshop, The Workshop Gallery, in 1983. While he is widely known for producing heritage blue plaques for organizations like English Heritage and the City of London, he also creates a range of individual studio pottery.
Piece Characteristics
This piece is characteristic of Heywood's late 20th-century decorative work:
Form: A rounded, hand-thrown body with a signature ruffled or petal-shaped rim.
Glaze: Features a vibrant speckled purple and ivory glaze, a combination seen on several of his dated vases from the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Markings: Impressed maker's mark on the base, reading "Ned Heywood Chepstow,11th September 1985 "
Small chip to one ruffle ( see picture 4.) Otherwise is mint condition.
