Art Deco Ditmar Urbach Polar Bear Bowl, 1930s Czechoslovakian Ceramic Dish
This vintage Art Deco ceramic bowl, attributed to the renowned Czech company Ditmar Urbach, dates back to the 1930s. The piece features a beautifully modeled polar bear on a textured, icy terrain with a central bowl that serves as a dish or vide-poche. It is believed to have been created in tribute to Nora, the first polar bear in the Prague Zoo. This sculpture-like bowl has a unique, colorful glaze that mimics a glacier's cool tones of aqua, turquoise, white, and gray.
Its versatile design allows it to function as a decorative catch-all dish or a centerpiece .
There is graze damage to the right ear (please see pic for detail) otherwise in unmarked vintage condition.
