An exquisite, highly collectible pair of large, authentic mid-century Italian Murano art glass bird sculptures (frequently identified as long-tailed pheasants, phoenixes, or cockerels). Hand-blown in Venice during the 1960s or 1970s, this complementary set showcases the pinnacle of Venetian mastery with an incredibly rich combination of premium design techniques.
Artisanal Techniques & Features
• Sommerso Glass: Features a brilliant, fiery red-and-orange core perfectly encased within a flawlessly clear layer of heavy glass.
• Avventurina (Aventurine): Profusely filled with suspended, shimmering gold leaf flakes embedded deeply within the clear glass elements. The gold dust is intricately integrated into the textured swirl bases, as well as the clear decorative crests and eyebrows directly above the eyes to elegantly catch natural light.
• Mouth-Blown Authenticity: The undersides feature prominent, raw pontil marks—the definitive signature of a completely hand-formed glass masterpiece rather than a machine mold.
Handmade Character
Please note that as completely hand-sculpted pieces created without the use of industrial molds, they feature charming, authentic variations. They differ slightly in height and form, which beautifully highlights their unique artisanal nature and creates a perfectly balanced, dynamic visual pair for display.
