2 x Vintage Ceramic Vases with Hand Painted Boating Scenes | c1930s

A beautiful pair of vintage ceramic vases, each hand painted in vibrant multicoloured relief with a lively nautical scene depicting two yachts in full sail. The raised hand painting gives the scene wonderful depth and texture, with the sails and rigging picked out in fine detail against a colourful seascape background.

Purchased at auction and believed to date from the 1920s to 1930s, possibly of Italian origin. The maker or artist is unknown, which is not uncommon for decorative ceramics of this period produced for the European export market. There is some surface crazing consistent with age, but no scratches, cracks, or chips — a lovely pair in excellent condition for their years.
