A rare and beautiful vintage Japanese Kutani sake cup in the Kinrande style — characterised by its rich gold decoration on a white ground. Dating to circa 1940, this piece bears the Kutani seal on the base, authenticating its origin from the celebrated Kutani porcelain tradition of the Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan.

Hand painted on a white background with vivid, sharp colours and a gold fan pattern to the rim, this cup is a fine example of pre-war Japanese decorative ceramics. Kutani ware from this period is highly collectible and increasingly difficult to find in the West.

Please note: there is some wear to the rim gilt and a small chip to the base — please see photos for full detail. These minor imperfections are reflected in the price and do not detract from the piece's considerable decorative and collector appeal.
